THE POWER OF WOMANHOOD

In the spirit of Woman’s Month, I want to use this time to share just how much I love being a woman and what womanhood means to me. Everything about it from the feel-good slay-days all the way up to the uncontrollable mood swings and everything in between. Lockdown has truly taught me so much about myself, about the woman I want to be and what I want to work towards. The words of Coco Chanel, couldn’t be more true: “beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself”.

Being a mom of 3, over the past few months, I have been the wife, mom, sister, daughter, chef, cleaner, teacher, caregiver, ‘ouchie’-kisser, snack provider, referee, shoulder to cry on and all whilst trying to run a business. For those of you with small kids, you will relate that even going to the loo is a group activity. I’m not saying it’s been an easy run, ask my hubby he will tell you😊 But going through this made me realise just how incredible, strong and resilient woman are – being able to do it all and not hit the wine by 12. And when I have a bad day, I recall the words of Lalah Deliah “she remembered who she was and the game changed”.

While I want to continue growing, I’m reminded that I am enough. It gives me the strength to encourage my girls to be brave, strong, speak up for themselves, whilst being nurturing and kind at the same time. To teach my girls to make their own paths in life, to reach for life and embrace the moments that leads there – because as we all know these are filled with highs and lows. Where we rejoice on the peaks and persevere in the dips.

I am in no way a feminist; I believe that we are all equal and have our parts to play in this thing called life. And truly I believe that working together we can all be great, even though I feel that woman in leadership are truly a force to be reckoned with. What I love about strong woman is they are able to help, build-up and cheer-lead other woman. I think back to my selfless mother, who would drop anything for me or my sisters or even that extremely busy CEO who coached me through my trials or that business owner who helped my business along, just to build me up and give me confidence.

I have a message. My message is simple. Be the woman that lifts others up – be strong, be brave, be beautiful inside and out & most importantly be you!
